Diabetes Type 1 And My Face Is Bright Red

Jafar Panahi Freedom

On 1 March the Iranian director Jafar Panahi was arrested at his home, accused of a "crime" was not even perpetrated: preparing a film be contrary to the Ahmadinejad regime . His wife and daughter, along with colleagues from the film, were also imprisoned but released already. Panahi is currently only prison and on hunger strike since last Sunday to protest the torture and threats to his family. His life is in danger. Recently filmmakers as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Joel and Ethan Coen, Robert Redford, Robert De Niro, Jonathan Demme, Jim Jarmush, Michael Moore or Oliver Stone called for his release. This week, Abbas Kiarostami and his fellow French actress Juliette Binoche Panahi criticized the situation in the Festival de Cannes, where he had been invited as a jury, and demanded their immediate release. Some governments have also protested but the reaction has been rather timid in both official circles as independents, not to mention the fact the limited impact in Spain in general and in the film world in particular. Some sites have been enabled to show solidarity with the director ( Jafar Panahi Free , Cineuropa and others that can see in the Wikipedia entry at the beginning of the text), but if anyone can stop this real abuse of human rights is organization Amnesty International has organized a campaign collection of signatures with a letter calling for his release . Panahi is not the only filmmaker detained. The least known Nourizad Mohammad has been held since late last year and has also begun a hunger strike. If either one dies is a failure of the world that wants to be free and a triumph of totalitarianism, dictatorships and systems of thought. Do not calléis. Lift up your voices and shout for the release of Jafar Panahi and all those artists arrested simply for expressing themselves freely.
