Corruption and European companies

30% of English business leaders feel justified in bribery as a means to achieve its objectives under the "European Fraud Survey 2011" by Ernst & Young. And your employees have this perception: 82% believe that their leaders seek "alternative routes". However, the percentage of executives to ensure that your company has committed fraud is well below the European average (18% vs 21%). And the concern on the Boards of Directors for their potential liability in these cases is also higher in Spain (88% vs. 62%). The global crisis we are suffering not only aggravates the matter: for 48% of managers respondents, their strategies are focused on cost control rather than fraud at least until the economic situation begins to rebound. As Ricardo says Noñera (Partner in charge of Ernst & Young Forensic Spain. Italy and Portugal): "This strategy is not conducive to the prevention of fraud in fact increase the risk for companies if, as sometimes happens, the control measures cause a reduction in the effectiveness of internal controls. " Anti-fraud measures, the English executives opt for internal audit, internal controls and review of the management. Something the rest of European managers considered ineffective or insufficient.

financial sector calls for a carbon market that attracts investors

Leo Diarioresponsable.com that the financial sector, as part of the Initiative Environment Programme Finance United Nations, have made this Friday in London called for the development of a carbon market that can attract investors.
This is one of the main conclusions of "Reddy-Set-Grow: Opportunities and Role of Financial Institutions in forest-carbon markets "prepared as a contribution to the climate change meeting to be held later this year.
Banking entities, insurance and investor who helped with the study in this initiative offer their cooperation to work with national and international regulators to get a forest carbon market.
To Abyd Karmali, managing director of carbon markets at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, this market has significant potential but also requires design efforts by regulators to make it attractive for private capital.
In this sense, the alliance with the private sector and financial institutions are essential for the implementation of the mechanism, sponsored in the last session of the UN Convention for Change Climate meeting in Cancun last year, which promotes the reduction of deforestation and forest degradation (REDD + its acronym in English).
To achieve a reduction of two degrees Celsius in temperature of the earth that will give the reduction of deforestation required under United Nations an estimated investment of between 17 and 33 billion U.S. dollars. The study estimated that public investment can not deal with these dimensions is therefore a need for private capital.

11 billion euros in food are thrown away every year in Spain

Imagine the following scene: It's in the supermarket buying and saving, rather than put food in bags, the strip directly to a cube garbage. It sounds ridiculous, but it is what happens daily in European households. On average, we throw about 20% of the food we buy. In Spain, 2.9 million tons of wasted food a year, 250 euros per person. Much of the food we throw away could have been consumed and enjoyed by better planning, storage and conservation. Albal and the international humanitarian organization Action Against Hunger awareness among citizens want to assist, through practical advice and smart solutions to reduce food waste.
Our attitude towards food has changed dramatically since the days of our grandparents. Before, everybody was opposed to waste any food and over the years, factors such as lower prices and the growth of fast food restaurants have contributed to the culture of the shoot. Currently, the majority attitude about food seems to be much more carefree, to the extent that you do not know what to do with the leftovers are thrown away. Numbers
worrying about food waste Europe
A recent survey by Albal in seven European countries reveals that:
• More than 20% of food expenditure in Europe is associated with food which is then thrown away.
· Of these, more than 50% are preventable each year. These foods could have eaten if they had planned, best preserved and stored.
• The 30% of packaged food is thrown away without even having been opened or touched the food.
• The 50% of food that are thrown are fruits and vegetables, followed by leftovers from meals cooked at home and / or fast food.
Most consumers are not aware of the amount of food thrown away. Many are convinced that they do not waste anything, but the reality is that each strip English nearly 63 kilos of food a year. In Spain, consumers believe that their scrap rate is 4%, when in reality the figure is 18%.
To raise awareness and encourage consumers to act in a more conscious way to preserve food better, Albal has launched a European initiative called SAVE FOOD. The initiative, in collaboration with the international humanitarian organization Action Against Hunger aims to support consumers in their efforts to save more food, with tips to help people get the most out of the food purchased and thus the waste to a lesser extent. The essential thing is to plan better meals, use the one already in the fridge before buying more or improve our way of assessing the size of portions and menus that can cook.
The initiative brought to life by Save Food page on Facebook that supports consumers in their efforts to reduce food waste through an open platform for discussion and exchange of views. Also encourages consumers to become aware commitment to save food (Save Food). For every 50 new I like to get on the Facebook site, Albal Equivalent to donate 40 euros to take care treatment a child from severe malnutrition to the NGO Action Against Hunger.
Why waste food?
· The most common causes of food waste are poor planning and improper storage.
· Around two-thirds of consumers do not plan meals in advance for the following week, so it is customary to buy more of the account at the supermarket. Most can not resist to the increasing variety of food products, which often leads to buying more of what we consume.
• The attractive presentation of products and special offers are also you, since tempt consumers add items to the shopping cart that were not originally on the list. The result is an overabundance of food that ends up being wasted food later at home.
• Once home, many consumers simply are not adequate food, making fresh food to spoil prematurely.
· Also, cook and prepare too much food, what makes leftovers become the second largest category of food wasted. Our grandmothers made him before in new recipes and we now throw in the towel. Most of us simply do not know what to do with the leftovers, so the throw.
Save food and commit to change the situation
Although everything on the food waste has been gaining importance in public opinion in recent years, it is clear that we need a significant change in consumer behavior. But not all bad news because Albal study results indicate that when people become aware of the problem of food waste is disposed to do something.
90% of intoaccount believes that a more conscious consumer behavior could reduce the amount of food waste. The vast majority of consumers are aware that reducing waste is a matter of better planning, which makes 60% of the English want to receive more information on proper storage of food to keep them fresh longer.

are just plastic bag, eco bag alive!

Waste Act and Contaminated Soil to ban plastic bags for single use between 2013 and 2018, according to the timetable set at the time by the European Waste Framework Directive. Since 1 May, the Andalusian gravel each package to purchase a new tax, which ensures, in this community at least, that these items that generate mountains of waste are difficult to manage to stop being free. It's time for the plastic bags made from biodegradable corn, soybeans, barley, rice or potatoes, or bags, also green, made from natural fibers such as cotton, jute or bamboo.
According to the draft Law on Waste and Contaminated Land, which is now before Parliament and has the approval of the vast majority of Congress, is replaced by 2013 60 percent of single-use bags, which means that 40% to resist shall be subject to severe financial penalties as adopted in Andalusia, which has been denounced in Brussels by the English Association of Plastics Manufacturers (ANAIP) but will soon be imitated by other communities. By 2015, it has to reduce consumption of those containers , Which are a nightmare for the government when they become waste, in 70 percent, and 80% by 2016. Finally, in 2018 will be deleted disposable plastic bag, which will be the unsustainable economic history of the twentieth century.
In the middle of the Pacific Ocean there is a larger island that Spain does not appear in any tourist brochure. Has been created to gather thousands of tons of trash, mainly plastic bags and bottles are not biodegradable, where, for each part unit of plankton, there are six parts of plastic. These wastes are moved slowly through the ocean currents to a sector of the North Pacific known as the Great Pacific Garbage. Something similar is happening also in the North Atlantic (the Great Atlantic Landfill), off the coast of Florida, and could someday reach Europe.
Disasters like these that have pushed the ban on polythene bags and other plastics are not biodegradable and replaced by sustainable alternatives that nature itself can be eliminated.
sustainable alternatives are becoming more competitive and more when it will start implementing eco-taxes and other penalties associated with the use of petroleum. "It opens a good outlook for the manufacture of bioplastic bags and fabric as is the case in other European countries, where there has been a real boom of the biodegradable bags and multiple uses, "said Joaquín Pece, co-founder of ecological merchandising be green. This young company is making headway Galicia in the market for sustainable products and custom marketing companies, among others, made from bioplastic bags, raffia, woven or nonwoven cotton. These materials enhance the image of its clients by demonstrating a concern for the signing by the planet at a time which makes them safe from future penalties for use of polluting materials such as polyethylene bag.
"They are citizens with their daily habits who can turn around this situation and select the business premises where there is a commitment to reduce unnecessary use of such packaging, recently explained the Deputy Minister of Environment of the Principality of Asturias at a seminar on sustainability of commercial packaging.
good example is the Carrefour, they offer to their customers, the price of 5 cents per unit, bags made from potato starch with an identical look and the traditional use of polyethylene. They also offer the option - through approximately euro-raffia bag, which looks like a beach bag and, to be washable and very durable, it can used hundreds of times. In addition, customers can opt for other materials such as bags of cotton or nylon.
"bags should not be delivered for free in supermarkets," says Sonia Nettle, coportavoz of Green-Coordinator, as this encourages misuse. It is imperative that the current taxing plastic bags for the transition period as low as possible, as has been done in Ireland or England. This is the true responsible drinking. " Pedro Nogueroles

General Meetings of Shareholders and First Meeting

According Ernst & Young, CSR is being increasingly discussed at meetings of shareholders U.S. firms.
of such proposals always have been tied to social issues, but in recent years have increased the weight of environmental aspects.
According to the advisory firm dedicated to meetings, Institutional Shareholder Services, 83% of investors believe that social and environmental factors can have an impact on the value of long-term action.
In 2000 the motions related to aspects of CSR were 150. In 2010, 191, obtaining an average of 18.4% support from other participants in the meeting, which is double the average support receiving such resolutions in 2000.
Increased support for these initiatives makes the boards show their interest in these issues, especially if they exceed certain thresholds of support. For example, the advice taken into consideration when the proposals were backed by at least 30% of the shareholders.
In 2005 only 2.6% of shareholder proposals that dealt with social and environmental aspects were these levels of support. However, during the past year the percentage rose to 26.8%.

The 'murder' of Llamazares (José Mendi)

United States of America have had a command of its military forces killed in Pakistan Osama Bin Laden.
is difficult to use the word 'information' in all matters relating to this matter. After touring the disastrous history of nonsense than it has been and is leading the country, supposedly more powerful in the world it is clear that we have not reached the end of anything. Even if true the death of this dark character, we would still engaged in a great lie. How can we trust what we say about the circumstances of the location of al Qaeda, his assassination and the alleged deposit of your body in the sea? How can the U.S. have taken 10 years since the attacks of 11-S to locate bin Laden, with the most ingenious and advanced tracking and tracing systems? All this without counting the millions in rewards, shopping information, people and equipment that have failure for this form of murder. ELMUNDO.es
As uncovered in January 2010, the FBI made one of his biggest blunders to put in search and capture Gaspar Llamazares! Using a sketch of the United Izquieda deputy, he got an aging face Bin Laden to be searched, harassed and killed, if any, anywhere in the world. The case, which I explained in my book 'Red on Red' (Ed. 1001ediciones, 2010), revealed a tragicomic mix of errors and horrors that have jeopardized the safety of the English political and, more seriously , the hundreds or thousands of anonymous people who could be used as assumptions terrorists manipulating the image on the internet simply because they defend pacifist ideals. This is why we have been able to kill Llamazares.
The lies have surrounded a history of death in victims of the terrorist attacks deserve the truth is imposed and not just get carried away by a false appreciation of what we sell as righteous vengeance. The questions still present since they were in the twin towers standing. As you rightly denounced filmmaker Michael Moore in his documentary 'Fahrenheit 9 / 11' (2004 Golden Palm at Cannes), the U.S. have never been particularly interested in dismantling Al Qaeda and capture Bin Laden after the 11-S. Moreover, several of his immediate family left for Saudi Arabia shortly after the attacks, some with closed air space yet. The real U.S. goal was to control oil and to this end, forced to lie the invasion of Iraq.
now tell us that Bin Laden has been killed in Pakistan. Do not miss him, but we have thrown much more. The United States have reminded us that are licensed to kill and that terrorism can have 'legal' state wherever they please. They even have to do with a certain social and political consent. Is the same behavior of the murder of José Couso television camera and other victims of a state that refuses to sign the Statute of the International Criminal Court in The Hague prevent them from being pursued internationally actions that violate the principles of justice and the sovereignty of other States.
What would happen if Bin Laden had been holed up in Spain and a command of American soldiers had killed or arrested? Had they kept that same complacency in our country today who justify far from our borders? International law and respect for human rights is not a matter of States or territories, but about people. With this performance, in addition to maintaining the legacy of Guantanamo, Obama is outside the law and respect for those rights given to you by the 2009 Nobel Prize Peace. I think it's time to reconsider that decision and request that you withdraw this award. Will add to my request? José Francisco
Fornies Mendi is the author of "Red on Red '(book analyzing the case of Gaspar Llamazares Photography manipulated by the FBI to make a sketch of Bin Laden))

How To Make A Chinese Bang Out Of Weave

inequality is not profitable (Emilio Ontiveros)

inequality in income distribution has increased in recent years significantly in many countries. The current crisis is broadening these differences, even in advanced economies. Economists Thomas Piketty and Emmanuel Sáez have demonstrated in the case of the U.S., the value of the indicators of income distribution is now equivalent to those in 1928, on the threshold of that other crisis, parallel to the present, which triggered the Great Depression. It is in this country that are carrying out various investigations into the causes and consequences of the enlargement of that inequality. The following notes discuss some consequences of the hand of the evidence regarding the influence of inequality in three areas: trust within societies, the determination of the financial crisis, and the generation of wars as far force in some countries of northern Africa and Middle East. Try to keep out judgments and considerations of the moral philosophy of Adam Smith held that in A Theory of Moral Sentiments, a quarter century before he published his Wealth of Nations. Advance the general conclusion excessive inequality in income distribution is not conducive to sustainable economic growth, it is not profitable for the whole society.
- Inequality and trust. confidence among economic actors, and these in their institutions, is part of this new form of capitalism, socialism, which, without prejudice to the necessary expertise, enables collaboration forms of generating social gains. It is considered a factor that enhances the growth and other economic variables. Some recent studies show the negative correlation between inequality in income distribution and confidence. Shaun P. Hargreaves Heap, Jonathan HW Tan and Daniel John Zizzo (Trust, inequality and the market) also reached important conclusions about the influence of the distribution of income in the trust that project participants in a market. Evidence also exists in the field of business, such as Steven Covey has illustrated: the business is adversely affected if the trust is eroded.
OECD data illustrate that is the economies of Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Netherlands, where a higher proportion of individuals showing confidence in others. The international competitiveness of these economies, the intensity of advantages based on knowledge and quality of human capital is as enviable as the main indicator of welfare, GDP per capita. Analysts also concluded that institution that high inequality in the distribution is negatively correlated with trust.
- Inequality and financial crisis. of the consequences it is having the crisis on inequality of income and wealth of evidence are numerous. So are the effects in terms of disaffection, distrust increase, agents basic economic institutions on the economic system in developed economies. More suggestive, and less easy to guess, is to verify that it is precisely the expansion of the gap between rich and poor one of the causes of the crisis. In an IMF paper (Inequality, leverage and crises), released last November, it is argued that the high leverage of households and the subsequent financial crisis arising due to changes in income distribution. The empirical analysis, based in the U.S., focusing on 1920-1929 and 1983-2008. Both periods preside over a very considerable increase in the share of the rich in the distribution of income and wealth, a rise in the leverage of others and, finally, a real financial crisis. This reflects, according to the researchers, changes in bargaining power on the income of each other.
From another perspective, a recent survey of economists O. RH Dijk and A. Frank and political scientist Levine in the 100 most populous counties in the USA concluded that where the inequality in income distribution grew faster also recorded the largest increases in financial stress, as measured by various indicators, including bankruptcies.
The most popular theory in this regard is that of R. Rajan, IMF chief execonomista Chicago professor. In an article last July (How Inequality fueled the crisis) and advanced detailed conclusions in his book Faultline. His assertions are blunt: "As cynical as it may sound, easy credit has been used throughout history as a palliative for those governments unable to respond directly to deepest anxieties of the middle class." According to Rajan, the expansion of home ownership, one of the essential elements of the American dream-a low-income families was the key to achieving the wider objectives of expansion of credit and consumption. Was the growing gap in income distribution which stimulated the credit boom that ended precipitating the financial crisis. The paradox, which also notes the author, is that the severity of the crisis is helping to significantly reduce the number of owners by the most dramatic of foreclosures.
Although other economists, including MIT professors, D. Acemoglu, or S. Johnson has qualified the relevance of these policy objectives of indirect distribution, gives much more attention to the dynamics of financial innovation created by the operators themselves bank Rajan causal linkages have great relevance.
- Inequality and conflict. excessive inequality is also being called as one of the most important in all diagnoses are made on the conflicts in North Africa and Middle East. They have done so, it is true that a little later, the World Bank and IMF. Among academic economists, Kenneth Rogoff has been the most forceful. Exresponsable also research at the IMF and Harvard professor, in an article last February (wildcard Inequality in current crisis), stressing that "within country income inequality, wealth and opportunities is higher than at any other time of the last century, "says the" high unemployment, the obvious inequality in the distribution of income and wealth, and the high prices of basic commodities, "as major triggers of conflict in Africa and the Middle East.
CONCLUSION. Without encroaching on the field of moral philosophers holding to more concrete cost-benefit analysis, there appears to be sufficient evidence that inequality is not profitable. Avoid enlargement maintain the trust and reduce the likelihood of other forms of instability. We would do well, therefore, become a public policy priority that goal. Also in the English economy, specifically cited the Rogoff's article as one of the cases where it is harder to reconcile the development of measures budgetary austerity to reduce an unemployment rate that, when that article was published, I was still at 20% of the population.

How Much Would It Cost To Replace Tensioners

We recommend: Inside Job Results

in the lineup for several weeks, which is a success for a film of this nature, Inside Job is a work of vision required. Oscar winner for best documentary in the latest edition of the awards, the film directed by Charles Ferguson shows the keys of the current crisis and denounced the misalignment of the dominant economic system, run by a few and not in for the common good. This work might well have been part of the Official Selection of the sample but was privileged to premiere in theaters. Although we consider lower than this year's favorite, The Shock Doctrine , and even other documentaries in general, this is a very feature to consider. We must also take its exhibition in cinemas, a rarity in our city.

According to its director, "this film is a portrait full of an extremely important issue and now the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, which continues to haunt us through debt issues in Europe and the instability world markets. It was a totally avoidable crisis, in fact, in the 40 years since the reforms carried out after the Great Depression, the United States had neither a single financial crisis. However, the progressive deregulation of the financial sector since the early eighties has given way to a growing criminal industry, whose "innovations" have generated a succession of financial crises. Each crisis has been worse than the last, and yet, the increasing power and wealth of industry, few people have been jailed. In the case of this crisis, no one has gone to prison, even though fraud has caused losses of billions of dollars. I hope that in just under two hours that this film, everyone can understand the essential nature and root causes of this problem. I also hope that after seeing it, regardless of political opinion of each, we should all agree on the importance of restoring the integrity and stability of our financial system, and to hold accountable those who have destroyed. "

Synopsis: This documentary chronicles the causes and culprits of the 2008 financial crisis, and attempts to shed light on the executives, politicians and educators who played an important role in the events that preceded the global economic crisis. The global economic crisis, costing more than $ 20 billion, has meant for millions of people losing their homes and jobs and has jeopardized the economic stability of almost all developed countries since the United States to Iceland, China, and Greece. Through extensive research and interviews with respected financial sources, politicians, and journalists, the film traces the rise of a dishonest industry and reveals the corrosive relationships that have corrupted the policy, regulation and education.

Inside Job can be seen exclusively in the Aragonia Cinemas (Avenida Juan Carlos I), in sessions of 20:35 and 22:35 hours and tramp session the Friday and Saturday at 00:40 hours .
